VCF Treatment

Vertebral compression fractures (VCF) due to osteoporosis may be treated by an interventional radiologist using Vertebroplasty or Kyphoplasty techniques. Vertebroplasty uses image guidance to inject bone cement to strengthen and stabilize the fracture. Kyphoplasty is a procedure to insert a small balloon into the spine that, when inflated, creates a space within the fracture. The cavity created by the balloon is then filled with bone cement.
